EPA chemical information | Cobalt iodide (CoI2) (15238-00-3) |
α CoI 2 is obtained by heating cobalt powder in a hydrogen iodide stream to 400~500 ℃. ββCoI 2 is obtained by sublimation of αCoI 2 in high vacuum.
The metal cobalt powder prepared from cobalt oxalate is heated in a hydrogen iodide stream at a temperature of 400 to 500°C for 4 to 5h. The resulting cobalt iodide is heated and melted at 550°C and then cooled in a vacuum to obtain α-CoI2.
The resulting α-CoI2 is vacuum sublimated to obtain β-CoI. As shown in the figure, when vacuum sublimation is carried out at 570~575 ℃, 6 places are residual metal cobalt, 5 places are attached α-CoI2, and 4 places are simultaneously attached with the target product β-CoI and part of iodine. The tube is then kept horizontal and the part from 6 to 3 is placed on the furnace and heated to 100°C. In addition, the other parts are heated with a fan-shaped flame, so that the attached iodine is collected in 1 place, and then the target products in 4 places are concentrated in 2 places. After filling the sublimation tube with nitrogen, melt and cut the 2 places. This method can produce about 0.8g β-CoI with 10g α-CoI2.
